This is NOT a rating post based on prettiness or anything like that. I’m rating this based on how absurd the rarity is (lol rip ironmen who drop one)
1 is the most absurd and 10 is reasonable rarity. (The numbers at the start are the order they are listed in on the hypixel wiki)
#1: Carmine Dye (1/20m from any lava sea creature)
Starting off strong I see.
There have been only 13 ever sold on AH, and the #1 player for magma slugs has 287k kills. (It’s the lowest level lava sea creature)
I would give this a 3/10. It’s rare, but not that rare as some of the dyes we will get into here.
#2: Necron Dye (1/2500 from M7)
If you use Kismets you drop it down to a 1/1250 chance. As far as I know, there is no RNG meter for this item, and it’s the rarest item from any dungeon chest (someone confirm). Also, a LOT of them have been sold on AH, so the price has deflated to around 30m. Go buy one for yourself if you want your crimson armor to look redder then it already is.

#3: Flame Dye (1/1m from blazes)
Why is it not higher? The wiki says you can drop it from minions too, but I’ve never heard of someone getting it from a minion.
26 have only been sold on AH, which furthers my belief that it does not drop from minions.
You might also be able to drop it from a blaze puzzle room too.
8/10 not terrible
#4: Mango Dye (1/10m from foraging)
Needs to be higher. Wayyyyyyyyyyy higher lol.
So many of them have been dropped that the price has dropped to 30m.

#5: Nyanza Dye (1/2m from sneaky creepers of all things)
The only people who kill sneaky creepers are 1. People who want to do bestiary for that 5 Skyblock exp (yay!) or 2. Newbies who just made it to the Deep Caverns. Nobody has sold one on AH, but I have heard of one being dropped.

#6: Celadon Dye (1/20m from large sludges and 1/1b (yes b) from medium and small sludges.)
Why 1/1b? Why not something more reasonable, like 1/100m? At least then people would have a prayer of getting this dye.
None have been sold on AH, but if the jungle pickaxe still spawned sludges maybe a few would of been dropped.

#7: Emerald Dye (1/8m from mining emeralds)
Eeeeeh. Powder grinders, ironmen or newbies only mine emeralds. 16 have been sold on AH.

#8: Holly Dye (~1/3000 from a red gift)
Probably one of the only three dyes an Ironman has a prayer of obtaining. Participate in every festival and do some fishing, you’ll get it eventually. 10/10. Do I even need to mention how many have been sold on AH?
#9: Aquamarine Dye (1/15m from fishing)
This dye has a few things wrong with it. It’s rarity is ok, but it’s rolled as a treasure catch, which means that the people who have the highest chance of obtaining it are trophy hunters and people with low scc. 24 have been sold on AH, 5/10.
#10: Celeste Dye (1/100m from wolves in the hub)
Why. Just why. The only ppl who want to kill hub wolves are slayer newbies who are trying to get Maddox batphone or people who are fed up with other people stealing their kills in the howling cave. Only 3 have ever been sold on AH, which shows the rarity of this dye.

#11: Iceberg Dye (1/10m from winter fishing)
Hmm, an item that’s 33% more common then the aquamarine dye, yet is only available to get for 1/10th of the time? To be fair, more people winter fish then regular fish, as it’s a good way to make money with baby yetis. However, see the aquamarine dye section because once again, it’s only available from treasure rolls. Only 4 have ever been sold on AH.

#12: Tentacle Dye (~1/700k from Kuudra)
Yes, it’s twice as rare as the Enrager.
Yes it’s completely unfair.
No, there haven’t been any sold on the ah.

#13 Bingo Blue Dye (bought from the bingo shop with bingo 3 and 500 points)
You’ll have to wait years to buy this dye.
None have been sold.

#14: Dark Purple Dye (~1/3000 chance to be in a dark auction)
If you didn’t know, it’s rolled for every item, which makes it around 1/1000 or 1/500 during Scorpius. You’re welcome. Still might take a long time though, and only 20 have ever been sold.
4/10 not completely unreasonable.
#15: Foot Lettuce Dye
The last thing you’d want in your Burger King burger is somebody’s foot fungus.
#16: Midnight Dye (1/1m from spooky mobs)
Oh yay, a dye that only has a 1/1m chance but is only obtainable for 30 minutes every five days!
None have been sold lol

#17: Byzantium Dye (1/20m from voiding minions)
People actually run voiding minions, so this is quite common with an average price of about 60m.
8/10.
#18: Cyclamen Dye (1/100m from mooshrooms)
WHY WHY WHY.
Nobody will probably drop this in a year. Mooshrooms aren’t part of the bestiary, so no high level (and magic find) players will grind them. Nobody has dropped one and nobody probably ever will. I forgot they even existed until I read the dyes page. 1/10.
(And before you ask it, moogmas and mushroom bulls don’t drop it. I checked the wiki).
#19: Nadeshiko Dye (1/8m from fishing in the fairy pond)
Who wants to fish in the fairy pond? You don’t even get a fairy soul from fishing there and your inventory gets clogged up with fairy armor. Nobody has sold one but I’ve heard of someone obtaining one. 2/10.
#20: Wild Strawberry Dye (1/150m from harvesting a crop)
People drop this a lot surprisingly. Its average ah price is 40m.
8/10.
#21: Brick Red Dye (1/2m from redstone pigmen)
See nyanza dye. 54?!?!?? Have been sold on ah
(Oh dang, all the ah data might been wrong or people killed the crystal hollows ones)
7/10?????? Maybe the drop chance is bugged or something.
#22: Bone Dye (1/3m from skeletons)
People do dungeons. Dungeons have skeletons. 13 have been sold on ah.
4/10 drop chance is probably bugged lol or they don’t drop in dungeons
#23: Pure black and white dyes (bought from bits shop for 250k bits)
Hypixel: I like money!
3/10 you need to afk for 500 hours to get lol
