Set sale on an adventure you’ll always remember! In April 2022, our family took booked a Royal Caribbean Cruise aboard the Freedom of the Seas to visit to the Bahamas and fell in love with the easy and fun adventure. This post is completely unsponsored but I wanted to shared my experience with you all because they have unbelievable deals to make a family vacation possible for almost every budget.

This was the first trip that I have taken with my daughter, and I was INTIMIDATED! I know that seems silly, but the thought of having to make sure I packed all the necessities for not only myself, but also my daughter, was overwhelming. Once I sat down and made my list, it was actually much easier than anticipated!

Visiting the Bahamas

Royal Caribbean Cruise | 4 Days in Nassau, Bahamas + Perfect Day at CocoCay (1)

The Perfect Day at CocoCay, Bahamas

The first stop on our Bahamas cruise was at Royal Caribbean’s private island, The Perfect Day at CocoCay. This was our favorite part of the vacation and it was completely kid-friendly! As soon as you depart the ship, you are welcomed by music and dancing at Arrival’s Plaza. The island is set up to be an extension of the cruise ship so your drink packages and dining (except for specialty restaurants) are all included!

The island offers so many things to do that I truly would have loved to stay docked for another day. Here are some of the activities that you do on the island:

  • Relax at one of the many beaches including Chill Island, South Beach,
  • Hang out at Oasis Lagoon with the massive pool bar
  • Shop at the gift shops
  • Dine at the FREE snack shacks
  • Sip co*cktails at one of the many bars
  • Watch your kids play at one of two waterslide attractions

If you’re looking for more, there are plenty of “excursion” options!

  • Slip and Slide at Thrill Waterpark
  • Relax at the Coco Beach Club
  • Rent a private over water cabana
  • Enjoy beautiful views from the sky with a hot air balloon ride

Nassau, Bahamas

Truthfully, visiting Nassau was not my favorite. If we took an adult only trip, I would have planned an excursion or spent the day at Atlantis. We did venture off the boat to walk around the town around the dockyard just to say we visited Nassau but it was filled with uncomfortable experiences.

So, I wouldn’t say we got the visit Nassau based on that experience. If we take another trip there, we will definitely be booking an excursion! Some of the excursions offered included:

  • Atlantis Waterpark
  • Jeep Excursions
  • Dolphin Encounters
  • Boat Tours
  • Walking Tours
  • Food & Culinary Tour
  • Sail & Reef Snorkling
  • VIP Beach
  • Wine Making
  • And more!

The Royal Caribbean Cruise Experience

This was all of our first cruise and I was both excited and terribly afraid at the same time. Not only have I never left the country, but a cruise is more difficult to return home early from. However, while we were cruising the only thought I kept thinking was that I wished we could stay longer!

The experience was so easy and thought free. All your meals and drinks (if you upgrade your beverage package) are paid for. There are tons of activities for the kids with childcare options. There is ALWAYS something to do.

And the best part of our Royal Caribbean Cruise was absolutely the friendliness and professionalism of the entire crew. Our room attendant and main dining room waiters took extra care in remembering our names, things that we enjoyed and making us feel nothing but welcomed. We loved getting to know all of them and hearing their stories from their travels.

  • The Windjammer – This was a casual, buffet styled restaurant that offered Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner with an assortment of global cuisines and American favorites with spectacular views.
  • El Loco Fresh – Poolside taco and salsa bar great for a light bite while laying out in the sun.
  • The Main Dining Room – Every night there is a scheduled dining time for your group that gives you a taste of fine dining. The menu rotates so that you can enjoy a variety of options and it is fun to dress extravagantly!
  • Sorrento’s – This late night pizza stop is great for a quick bite after a busy night exploring the ship!

There are several specialty restaurants on the Freedom of the Seas that we didn’t even get to try!

  • Chops Grille – An elegant, classic Chicago styled steakhouse.sGiovanni’s Italian Kitchen – family-style dining experienced by Tuscany’s landscape and flavors.
  • Izumi Hibachi & Sushi – Traditional asian cuisine with sushi, sashimi, ichi-yaki plates and more.
  • Chef’s Table – an experimental and educational specialty dining experience! The Chef de Cuisine specially prepares and presents each course, while explaining its cooking techniques, ingredients and flavors paired with complimentary wine.
