This HP case has crazy air circulation and the CPU cores don't get warmer than 39°C on colder days and 53°C @ full load. Pretty much, but it doesn't HAVE to be that much more. I built a m-ITX last year using the Thermaltake Core V1 case and it allows you to use an ATX PSU, 90mm tower cooler and doesn't need a riser cable. FAQs
Is ITX better than ATX? ›
Mini-ITX models limit the size of cooling solutions and the number of fans, while Micro-ATX chassis leave more room for better cooling and larger components. Tightly packed, powerful components in a small space often lead to a challenge with Mini-ITX, as it's not always possible to add more fans for cooling.
Is Micro ITX good for gaming? ›Can I use an ITX motherboard for a portable gaming system? Yes, ITX motherboards can be used for building portable gaming systems. Their compact size and power efficiency make them suitable for portable setups.
What are the cons of Mini-ITX PC? ›However, it's essential to consider the drawbacks of Mini-ITX PCs, such as limited expansion options, potential cooling challenges, and higher component costs. Ensuring compatibility and careful planning during the build process can help overcome these challenges and make the most of the Mini-ITX form factor.
Why is Mini-ITX more expensive? ›Mini-ITX motherboards and cases often come at a premium due to their more compact design, while MicroATX components can be more budget-friendly.
Does Mini-ITX use less power? ›Mini-ITX motherboards typically consume less than 100 watts of power, about 5 to 25 watts less than larger architectures.
Is a Micro ATX good for gaming? ›Yes, many microATX motherboards are gaming-ready, supporting high-end processors and graphics cards. If you're building a gaming rig and space is a concern, a microATX setup could be a perfect fit. Just ensure the motherboard has the necessary slots and connections for your gaming peripherals.
Can Mini-ITX fit a graphics card? ›In truth, many Mini-ITX PC cases can hold most graphics cards, even exceedingly powerful ones like Nvidia's GeForce RTX 4090. This is a relatively recent development, as Mini-ITX PC cases used to be smaller, but many companies now sell extended models explicitly designed to hold large graphics cards.
Does Mini-ITX overheat? ›Mini-ITX PCs can potentially experience higher temperatures and overheating issues compared to larger form factor PCs due to their compact size and limited airflow.
Does Mini-ITX need special power supply? ›A mini-ITX case is one of the smallest PC case sizes available as it supports the mini-ITX motherboard. For such a build, an SFX PSU is ideal and in fact necessary as mini-ITX cases are too small for ATX PSUs. One such case is Cooler Master's MasterBox NR200P.
Is building an ITX PC hard? ›Building a mini-ITX PC is challenging – in a good way. It's been challenging ever since I began using them, back when mini-ITX motherboards had integrated CPUs. Making sure there's enough cooling is still a primary concern today, along with issues such as graphics card compatibility and water-cooling support.
Is a mini PC as good as a normal PC? ›
While a desktop PC will give you plenty of power and can be upgraded, they'll take up more space. A mini PC is not as powerful and generally can't be upgraded, but they are ultra-portable, and are just the job for those everyday tasks.
Is there anything smaller than Mini-ITX? ›Development of ITX Motherboards
For example, Mini-ITX, which was introduced in 2001 has a size of only 17 cm x 17 cm. Nano-ITX, introduced in 2003, is even smaller than Mini-ITX, with a size of 12 cm x 12 cm. Pico-ITX, introduced in 2007, is one of the smallest SBC form factors, with a size of only 10 cm x 7.2 cm.
Size: Mini-ITX Build Is Absolutely Tiny
One of the key reasons people buy a Mini-ITX or microATX over a standard ATX motherboard is size. A Mini-ITX motherboard measures 6.7 by 6.7 inches (17 by 17 cm), while microATX motherboards are 9.6 by 9.6 inches (24.4 by 24.4 cm).
Mini-ITX motherboards have been traditionally used in small-configured computer systems. Originally, Mini-ITX was a niche standard designed for fanless cooling with a low power consumption architecture, which made them useful for home theater PC systems, where fan noise can detract from the cinema experience.
What does ITX stand for? ›(Information Technology EXtended) A family of very small PC motherboards from VIA Technologies. See PC motherboards.
Will ITX fit in ATX case? ›Mini-ITX boards can therefore often be used in cases designed for ATX, micro-ATX and other ATX variants if desired.
Should I choose ATX or Micro ATX? ›If you want to push your CPU and memory to their maximum potential, an ATX motherboard is almost certainly the way to go. Due to being the most popular PC form-factor, ATX motherboards also receive more support from manufacturers. In turn, that means Chillblast can offer a wider array of ATX motherboards.
What is the difference between ITX and deep ITX? ›Deep Mini-ITX, a unique form factor with an expanded width of about 40 mm, is used. A standard ITX board measures 170 x 170 mm, while this Deep Mini-ITX form extends the board towards 170 x 208.28 mm, or 6.7" x 8.2".
