These Grilled Mango Habanero Margaritas pack a spicy punch that is wickedly addictive.

I don’t think that there’s ever been a margarita that I didn’t like but this one is surely at the top of the list. This isn’t just a plain boring mango margarita. No. This is a grilled mango margarita with a bit, OK a whole, habanero thrown in.

Grilling the mango and habanero makes this drink smoky, sweet, and spicy. So many flavors are going on but they work oh so well together. You just want to keep sipping and sipping. Be careful though because they pack a punch. This isn’t your watered down run of the mill margarita folks.

Margarita recipes have become a staple on Wicked Spatula and I’m A-OK with that. After all, if there’s one thing I’m passionate about it’s tequila. Some people are passionate and knowledgeable about whiskey, scotch, or wine…but I’m sticking with tequila. It has such a clean yet peppery flavor with a bit of floral notes thrown in. I usually stick with silver but reposado and añejo are equally as delicious and even more so to some. They’re a bit smoother with more aged wood flavors so use your judgement on which one you choose.

If I’m just sipping it straight I’ll usually go with an añejo but for co*cktails the clean unmuddled flavor of blanco (aka, silver).

This drink isn’t frozen but it is a little thicker than normal because of the blended mango. You can totally make it frozen by freezing the grilled mango before blending.

Use your judgement on how much habanero you throw into the mix as well. I honestly feel like jalapeños are spicier than habaneros (I know they’re not, it’s just my taste buds ;)) so I go with a whole unseeded habanero. It’s easy to add more and impossible to remove so build up. Enjoy!

Very enjoyable concoction – the combination of grilling and brandy was inspired. We upped the lime a touch, grilled frozen mango chunks, and added another 4 oz. of tequila which improved the mouth feel and balanced out the sweet components in this drink.

Love this drink- thank you for sharing it!

The grilled mango adds so much to this drink–can’t wait to try. I may need to opt out of the tequila (doesn’t agree with me)
