Florida Georgia Line’s 15 Best Songs: Critic’s Picks (2024)

There was nothing subtle about the way thatFlorida Georgia Lineintroduced themselves to country music fans when they released “Cruise” in 2012. With itscold intro, the song was pretty much in-your-face from the start, creating an instantreaction that had notbeen seen among listeners in quite some time. The charts back that statement up, as the song was No. 1 onHot Country Songs for six months, the longest reign of all-timeuntilSam Hunt‘s “Body Like a Back Road” exceeded the feat in 2017.

And now, the guys have a whole new set of tunes for fans to jam to, releasing their fourth LP,Can’t Say I Can’t Countryon Feb. 15.

In celebration of FGL’s latest album, let’s take a look back at the duo’s unbelievable ride so far with 15 quintessential musical moments that make their live shows the biggest party in town!

Trending on Billboard

15. Florida Georgia Line – “Small Town”

One of the biggest odes to theCan’t Say I Ain’t Countrysentiment is also one of FGL’s most noticeable callbacks to the twang-heavy sound (and surprising rap skills) they brought on their debut album six years ago. Their knack for witty lyricism meets their country pride, making for a fun beer-raising tune even if you’re not from a small town.

14.Florida Georgia Line – “Told You”

FGL’s ballads have proven to be as impactful as their party-starting anthems, and “Told You” keeps their streak alive. The guys added another layer to their varied sound with this slow jam, incorporating a doo-wop-style beat that complements the guys’ harmonies in a charming way.

13. Florida Georgia Line ft. Luke Bryan – “This Is How We Roll”

The duo closed out their first albumHere’s To The Good Timeswith this energetic romp, which was co-written with Cole Swindell and Luke Bryan, with the latter lending his vocals to the single. This 2014 tribute to living in the moment remains one of their biggest-selling singles to date.

12. Florida Georgia Line –“Sippin’ On Fire”

ThisAnything Goes track is a tale of two people who have undeniable chemistry – with plenty of fire metaphors included – but can only tease the idea of anything happening. The burning guitar lick makes lyrics like “Why should we go round and round the truth, like we been doin?/Every time we lie girl we’re losing” hit even harder, but it hurts so good.

11. Florida Georgia Line – “Get Your Shine On”

How do you follow up one of the biggest hits in country music history? By recording another number one hit, of course. That’s exactly what Hubbard and Kelley did with the follow-up to “Cruise,” which became their second song to top the Country Airplay chart upon itsrelease in May 2013. The making of the video for this song wasn’t necessarily the hardest of jobs, as it required a trip to Cancun, Mexico. All in all, not a bad day at the office.

10. Florida Georgia Line – “Confession”

One of the deepest songs in the FGL catalog from a lyrical standpoint, this 2016 Country Airplay chart-topper features a man trying to come to terms with himself — good and bad. The song made an impact with their impressive fan base, making this the final hit from their multi-millions selling discAnything Goes.

9. Florida Georgia Line ft. Tim McGraw– “May We All”

Teaming up with former label mate Tim McGraw for the second single from Florida Georgia Line’sDig Your Rootsalbum, this video represented a first:Of all the group’ssongs to be made into videos, this was the first time that they appeared in the video without singing, only acting in the clip. For the filming, the three artists traveled to the rural setting of Hohenwald, Tennessee — about a 90-minute drive from Music City.

8. Florida Georgia Line – “Smooth”

The term “organic” tends to get overused by journalists, but in a sense, it’s the best way to describe the current single from the superstars. There’s more of a down-home vibe to this song than much of the hits in their arsenal, and the change of pace seemed to makean impact with listeners.

7. Florida Georgia Line – “Talk You Out Of It”

Perhaps one of the sexiest songs in FGL’s catalog, “Talk You Out Of It” tones down the guys’ drawls with sultry production. The song’s smooth melody and passionate bass line also helps emphasize their rich tones, which elevates the steamy-yet-romantic lyrics – and makes listenersrealize that staying in can be even more fun than going out.

6. Florida Georgia Line – “Dirt”

In releasing the first single fromAnything Goes, FGL wanted to take a step away from what fans were expecting from them. While a release with the commercial hook and sparkle of “Cruise” would have no doubt found acceptance at radio, this one surprised many with its’ degree of emotional depth. The track is one of seven singles by the duo so far to have sold over two million copies or downloads.

5. Florida Georgia Line – “Stay”

Producer Joey Moi penned this emotional song with rock group Blackstone Cherry, and the duo took the baton and ran with it. The video featuredDallasstar Josh Henderson in the lead role.

4. Florida Georgia Line ft. The Backstreet Boys –“God, Your Mama, and Me”

Florida Georgia Line song received some all-star backing when the Backstreet Boys provided a guest appearance to thisDig Your Rootstrack. The single proved to be as awesome as the BSB/FGL combo sounds, topping the Country Airplay chart – a Backstreet first – and also represented the iconic boy band’s biggest Hot 100 hit since 2005’s “Incomplete.”

3. Florida Georgia Line & Bebe Rexha – “Meant to Be”

Though Florida Georgia Line has had plenty of hits since “Cruise,” none have been nearly as omnipresent as “Meant to Be.” Its catchy-as-hell hook is one that gets stuck in your head after first listen, but perhaps the song resonated so widely because of its hopeful message in a rather tumultuous political climate. Whatever it was that made the country-pop single a smash, it marked a career-defining moment for both FGL and Rexha: “Meant to Be” topped the Hot Country Songs chart for a record 50 weeks, landing at a No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and even earning a Grammy nomination this year.

2. Florida Georgia Line – “Cruise”

To paraphrase one of the most iconic albums in the career of Elvis Presley, 7.5 million fans can’t be wrong. The first Florida Georgia Line song to make an impact with listeners set an amazing precedent. The single – in both its’ original mix and pop version with Nelly – has sold close to eight million units since its’ release, and topped the Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart for twenty-four weeks in 2012, breaking a record that had stood for close to sixty years.

1. Florida Georgia Line – “H.O.L.Y.”

Beauty was a definite factor in the success of the first single from their current discDig Your Roots. The song set itself apart from the pack of Florida Georgia Line songs as one of their strongest love ballads, and the video for the track was just as awestriking, filmed at the majestic Twelve Apostles in Melbourne, Australia. The romantic performance earned the group their fourth appearance in the Top 20 of the Hot 100, and for good reason: The song’ssentimental lyrics are underlined by a heartfelt melody, making “H.O.L.Y.” one of the most standout tracks in the duo’s catalog to date.
