Best Peppermint Milkshake ever!

I have to be very honest with y'all....

I just made these for the first time the other day. These skinny peppermint stick milkshakes were an idea I came up with last winter but they didn't come to fruition until this past week.

I substituted the traditional shake's milk and ice cream with almond milk and frozen non-fat greek yogurt and added a splash of peppermint extract for good measure.

The results are a thick, creamy, minty masterpiece!

But the slurpable treat doesn'tmake it far.

Today I made them on my kitchen islandand that's about as far as they got before all four shakesdisappeared in a couple of thirsty hands.

I did get a few seconds to snap some pictures with my new camera that I got for Christmas. Eeeeek!

But again, these bad boys didn't make it off the kitchen counter so y'all get the visual of a stark white formica countertop and a messy blender as picture backdrops.

Why????? Because these skinny peppermint stick milkshakes are too good not to share with y'all but also too good to let sit around for "pretty backdrops" IRL.

What to serve alongside Peppermint Milkshakes:

These peppermint stick milkshakes go so well paired with other sweet snacks that can be munched on such as the best gluten-free gingerbread cookies on the planet, gluten-free dark chocolate cake, 1-minute gluten-free mint chocolate mug cake, no-bake cookie dough truffles, the always-delicious no-bake s'more cake, gluten-free thin mint cookies, or gluten-free vanilla marshmallows!

Peppermint Stick Milkshake Ingredients:

  • 4 cups non-fat greek yogurt, frozen
  • 1 ¾ cups unsweetened almond milk
  • 2 teaspoon pure peppermint extract
  • whipped cream, coconut cream, crushed peppermint candies, or candy canes as garnishes

How to make quick peppermint milkshakes at home:

  1. Combine the greek yogurt, almond milk, and peppermint extract in your blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Pour in cups of choice and top with garnishes if desired. Enjoy!

What type of blender to use?

Any blender will work for this recipe. But I love having a high power blender at home, like the Ninja blender I have in my kitchen. I also have a Cuisinart blender that does beautifully too.

What to top your peppermint milkshakes with:

You mean besides peppermint sticks and candies?!?

  • A deliciously large dollop of sweet whip cream always helps!
  • How about some festive holiday sprinkles!
  • And what about a few fresh mint leaves!
  • Don't forget about a cute-designed straw, the wider the straw, the better for milkshake consumption!

Doubling or halving the milkshake recipe:

If you want to double this milkshake recipe, so right ahead.

You will more than likely need to make your double batch in two seperate blender sessions.

A double batch of ingredients may be too much for one blender to hold at one time.

Halving the recipe is really really simple.

Use half the amount of each ingredient and when you are ready to blend, you will turn that blender on for just a few quick seconds to get that dreamy creamy milkshake you've been wanting to get your hands on!

Adding alcohol to peppermint milkshake:

Yes! Use your choice of alcohol (oh hey there rum! Oh hey there Bailey's!) to make your peppermint milkshake boozy!

I'd recommend 1 oz. of alcohol per milkshake, so for the original recipe, place no more than 4 ounces of spirits into your blender.

You don't want to put too much booze in your milkshake or it may become runny and not as thick and creamy as you want it!

More delicious drink ideas:

  • Bourbon Cider Sours
  • Lemonade Mint Julep
  • Honey Bear co*cktail
  • Pomegranate Cranberry Mojito
  • Pomegranate Cranberry Sangria

Yes, you are welcome! A zillion calories usually tastes good but it's nice to have a healthy alternative that keeps the sweet, creamy, and minty thing going. I feel ya!
